The future of luxury is in small design houses, handmade by individuals, ready for real world wear, with an edge.
Matt Dean is about challenging the standard. Each work is formed from one piece of material without repetitive stitching or chemical adhesives traditionally found in luxury accessories.
Original
I first discovered leather through my father’s handcrafted journal hobby. The natural patina, marbled texture and structural quality of the vegetable tanned leather inspired me immediately.
I challenged myself to design a handbag beyond traditional means that could be folded from one piece of material and fastened with hardware. The result was a minimal, timeless design that removed the disruptive stitch lines and toxic adhesives found in many accessories today.
Sustainable
To reduce waste, our Italian bovine leather is sourced as an industrial byproduct and tanned with organic vegetable extracts to avoid the use of toxic substances like azo dyes, nickel and chromium. Our hardware is made from low-lead natural brass. Excess inventory is minimized as pieces are handmade in limited quantities.
